William Joseph Reid
February 13, 1940 - September 25, 2016
SAVANNAH: William J. Reid, (76), died September 25, 2016 at home under the care of Hospice Savannah surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Burlington, IA and lived in Dallas, TX for most of his adult life before moving to Savannah, GA to be near his daughter and youngest grandchildren.
Bill started his 40 year career working for Motorola, Harris Corp, to become a CEO with Music and Sound, Mizar Inc., and several other technology companies in Dallas TX. He matured into a serial entrepreneur and developed a number of patents used in the communications and technology industry in addition to consulting with several public technology companies over his career.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm on September 28, 2016 followed by rosary prayer at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The funeral mass will be at Blessed Sacrament on September 29, 2016 at 11:00 am.
The family suggests any remembrances be made in his memory to Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org/donate or to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Bill and Marilyn were married for 52 years raising three children and enjoying seven grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife, Marilyn Kay Reid, and his children Gregory Reid, Jeffrey Reid, Elizabeth Reid DeWitt. His grandchildren include: Jack, Madison, Caroline, Cooper, Mary Tarver Reid and Jasmine and Reid DeWitt. Bill’s siblings are Patricia Morales of Phoenix, AZ; Michael (and Karole) Reid of Iowa City, IA; Richard (and Mary) Reid of East Lansing, MI.
